An exceptional address in the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes

A natural heritage to experience in VO in the country of Issoire

Located in Le Broc, a stone's throw from the town of Issoire in the Puy-de-Dôme, the Michelin-starred Origines restaurant promises total immersion in the beating heart of the Auvergne.

Nestled on a hill overlooking the Auvergne Tuscany, in a former 13th-century medieval castle, Origines, with its gourmet restaurant and 12 hotel rooms, is ideally placed for discovering the Auvergne region and its volcanoes.

With easy access from the A75 freeway just 2 km away, Origines is an ideal stopover for epicureans and gourmets between Paris and Barcelona, near Clermont-Ferrand.

Le Broc and its surroundings, a stone’s throw from Issoire

Just south of Issoire, the small Auvergne village of Le Broc unfolds on a gentle hillside, offering breathtaking views of the Livradois-Forez mountains and the Sancy massif.

Whether you're meandering through the streets lined with old houses built of local stone, walking on the high plateau and marvelling at the peaks of the Sancy in the distance, or simply wandering through the remains of the 13th-century medieval castle, Le Broc's authenticity is both refreshing and surprising.

It's an identity that chef Adrien Descouls takes care to sublimate in his gourmet Auvergne home, located at the foot of the ancient castle's keep. A leap into the past, with all the comforts of modernity.

Discover the Renaissance château of Villeneuve-Lembron, 15 minutes from Origines. Taste the wines of Boudes in the eponymous wine village. Or explore the fairy chimney trails, an atypical spot in the Vallée des Saints where the Auvergne meets the dizzying red earth of the Grand Canyon.

Le Broc and the surrounding area are full of treasures to discover. Like the villages of Usson and Nonette, both perched opposite the restaurant. An air of Tuscany in the Auvergne, to be savored in the course of the gastronomic adventures to be enjoyed at Origines.

An extraordinary Romanesque heritage

Less than 10 minutes away by car, the town of Issoire and its many shops are home to a jewel of Romanesque art: the Saint-Austremoine abbey church, dating from the late 11th century.

Other nearby Romanesque churches to visit in the Auvergne include Notre-Dame de Saint-Sautrnin, 30 minutes from the Origines restaurant, Notre-Dame-du-Port in Clermont-Ferrand, 40 minutes away, and the church of Saint-Nectaire, just under 45 minutes away. The church at Orcival is about an hour from Le Broc.

Our Auvergne mountains

Origines au Broc has the privilege of being located in the middle of the Auvergne mountains. To the north, the Chaîne des Puys and the Plaine de Limagne, a UNESCO World Heritage site, boast the famous Puy de Dôme and some 80 volcanoes.

To the west, the Sancy massif can be seen from the restaurant's dining room and terrace. At 1886 metres, this massif is home to some amazing volcanic lakes and the ski resorts of Super-Besse, Le Mont-Dore and Chastreix.

To the south, the Cézallier and its Mongolian steppes, and Cantal, Europe's largest volcano, stretch as far as the eye can see.

Finally, to the east, the Livradois-Forez mountains can be admired from the restaurant room of the Maison Origines. A diversity of mountains that promise unforgettable hikes and bike rides. And a unique topography that inspires chef Adrien Descouls in his daily cooking.

On the way to Santiago de Compostela, the Via Arverna

Le Broc is fortunate enough to be home to one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela, just a few dozen meters from the Origines restaurant.

The Via Arverna links Clermont-Ferrand to Cahors via Brioude and Rocamadour. The stage through the Broc plateau runs from Issoire town center to the village of Jumeaux in the Haute-Loire.

The Auvergne remains a privileged land for walking and hiking.

Issoire, its aerodrome and its circuit

The Origines restaurant is a 10-minute drive from the Issoire airfield and the CEERTA racetrack. This renowned circuit features a 2,474 m asphalt track, a 2,000 m Rallye dirt track and a 1,000 m autocross track. An ideal venue for sports car and motorcycle drivers in search of thrills and spills.
